Method Building Inspections

Waikato

Waikato

Home base. Where Method started.

The Waikato is where Method Building Inspections began – and where Pita and Paul continue to inspect properties for buyers, sellers, landlords, and the property managers who look after them.

From the streets of Hamilton to the lifestyle blocks past Cambridge, the beach houses of Raglan, and everything in between, we've spent years getting to know how homes in this region are built, weathered, and lived in. That local knowledge shapes every inspection.

Reports are delivered within 24 to 48 hours, in plain English, with the same care whether you're buying your first home or your fifth.

Pita King

Founder + Waikato Inspector

Pita founded Method in the Waikato — 25 years of construction across New Zealand and Australia behind him, from high-rise apartments to Marae builds. A Licensed Building Practitioner shaped by manaakitanga: for him, an inspection is about looking after people, not ticking boxes.

Since starting his career in 2001, Pita has built a reputation on a foundation of technical expertise and a genuine commitment to the people of the Waikato. With 25 years of experience across New Zealand and Australia, he has managed a broad range of complex projects—from high-rise apartments and marine structures to government-funded Marae initiatives and essential community facilities.

Following 13 years in senior management and half a decade as a business owner, Pita’s approach to property inspection is defined by manaakitanga. For him, an inspection is more than just a technical requirement; it is about looking after people. He understands that a home is a significant milestone, and he treats every assessment with the care and integrity it deserves, ensuring clients feel supported and respected throughout the process.

Now dedicated to the Waikato region, Pita specialises in pre-purchase building inspections carried out in strict accordance with NZS 4306:2005. His process is thorough and systematic, leveraging his extensive background in remedial work to identify significant defects and future maintenance needs.

Pita provides clear, honest, and professional reports that cut through the noise. By combining high-level technical oversight with a pragmatic, person-centred approach, he ensures you have the clarity and peace of mind needed to move forward with your property decisions.

With over 21 years of experience in the building industry, I’ve built a strong reputation for quality workmanship, problem-solving, and practical expertise across a wide range of residential projects. My background is primarily in renovation work, including several recladding projects on monolithic clad homes, giving me extensive hands-on knowledge of building systems, compliance, and identifying construction issues before they become major problems.

Throughout my career, I’ve worked in leadership roles as a foreman and successfully ran my own building business for five years, managing projects, coordinating trades, and maintaining high standards on site. These experiences have strengthened my communication, organisation, and decision-making skills while giving me a solid understanding of both the practical and operational sides of the construction industry.

Now transitioning from being on the tools into pre-purchase property inspections, I bring a practical, detail-focused approach backed by decades of real-world building experience. My goal is to help home buyers make informed decisions by identifying potential construction issues, maintenance concerns, and workmanship defects before purchase. With extensive hands-on knowledge of how homes are built and where problems commonly arise, I provide honest, thorough inspections with a strong focus on clarity, reliability, and practical insight.
