Steve brings 18 years of hands-on construction experience to every inspection, backed by a National Certificate in Carpentry and Licensed Building Practitioner status recognised on both sides of the Tasman. A Dunedin local, he has spent his career on residential builds throughout Otago, developing an intimate understanding of how homes are put together and where they tend to fail.

After nearly two decades on the tools, Steve made the deliberate move from construction site to property inspection, drawn by the opportunity to put deep technical knowledge to work at the moment it matters most: before a client signs the paperwork. He knows how much rests on a good report, and he does not take that responsibility lightly.

His approach is grounded in the same care and honesty that defines Method. Steve gives you the full picture, even when the news is not what you were hoping to hear.

When he is not walking through Otago homes with a torch and a moisture meter, Steve is likely in the water. A keen surfer, the same patience that keeps him reading the swell shows up in the way he approaches every inspection: methodically, calmly, and with an eye on the details that others miss.

Pete's connection to the New Zealand building industry stretches back nearly five decades. His first job on the tools was with Fletchers in 1977, working on the New Dunedin Hospital alongside a range of major projects across Dunedin and Queenstown. Almost 50 years on, he holds a National Certificate in Carpentry and Licensed Building Practitioner status, backed by a depth of experience that is genuinely rare in the industry.

Between stretches on the tools, Pete stepped away from mainstream construction to hand-shape wooden surfboards, a period that sharpened his eye for detail and his appreciation for how materials behave over time. He returned to construction full-time in the 2010s, working independently and alongside other trusted Otago tradespeople.

That combination of large-scale project experience, self-employed autonomy, and a craftsman's patience shapes the way Pete approaches building inspections. He knows how buildings behave over decades, not just how they are supposed to be built when they are new. His reports are honest, thorough, and grounded in first-hand knowledge that only comes from having done the work himself, on every kind of house Otago has to offer.

Outside of work, Pete's love of the water is still going strong. Between inspections he is often out on the Otago coast. The same craft and patience that once went into shaping surfboards now goes into the considered, reliable advice his clients depend on.
